I think college might be my new ex-girlfriend. But I’m still dating her?

I’m tired of her and she takes up all my time. Too much reading, not enough pay, we’re stupid kids, gah this aint for griping.  The weekends are fantastic. Last night I went out to Thumpy at Cornell with DJ Letham (@itwasTHaDWEEB) to get down to DJ Fuzzy Duck and Orchard Lounge.

After being stopped by the Cornell PD (who knew you can’t drink wine in the streets?) we made it into the house. Those mansions, jesus, the detail across massive bodies of wood is superfluous for boozing undergrads. But I guess ya gotta dress for the job you want.

Superbowl weekend is the best American holiday of all. So after a Friday full of debauchery, Saturday is writing with Rear Window in the background. Tonight can only get better. Hedonistic weekends are my favorite.

It’s really fantastic.

A couple months ago, on a Pandora station I had tinkered with for a while, this song “My On-Call Nurse” by From Bubblegum to Sky came on. I had never heard of the track, or the band for that matter. I’m hopefully concerned. Notorious comes out in a little less than 10 days, and the anticipation is growing. Fly mixtapes are being unreleased. And the man playing Mr. Wallace, Jamal Woolard aka Gravy, is a smidgen off from a look alike.

Does he come from New York? Yup. Even Brooklyn? Yup. Is he into some crazy shit? Yup. Does he have the swagger that Biggie handled? Swag, Gravy’s definitely got it, but I don’t see any of his songs throwing every arm in the air 15 years from now like Biggie’s do. Read the rest of this entry »

Two days til I head back to Ithaca, and there’s a glacier about to fall on the North East. My mom has been freaking out for the last two days.

While in Shop Rite today, filling up a cart on my parents’ dollar to feed me come starving student mode, a bewildered old lady shouted to no one in particular, “They’re all here getting food cause of the storm! I fell on the ice last night. It was on the sidewalk in front of my house. You know, the one my dad always tells me is slick. The fall was terrible. Like out of Home Alone.
