Before there was George, there was Gorge

Posted by Newberg On March - 10 - 2010

Like the grease from the very burger or the potato chip that he was chompin’ and pushin’ back in the day, JA had seeped into and saturated the folds of our delicious brains as this guy before Seinfeld. Not too far of a stretch from the role to come… You can say what you like about the man, but you cannot deny his talent.

Enjoy:

And to finish, this.

What Up Kid?

Posted by Portman On March - 10 - 2010

Dear Kid Cudi,

There’s something I gotta get off my chest so I’ma be straight with you; I do NOT like “How To Make It In America”. It has it’s moments and lord knows I want it to be good…but it isn’t. It moves too slow, it tries to hard and I hate all the characters (except for Luis Guzman of course). But I don’t blame you. If I were you and somebody said, “Yo, you wanna come be on the newest, hippest HBO show? We’ll only give you a line or two per ep and you can hook up with a different hot chick each week,” then I’d jump at the opportunity. And I still love your music, especially this jam “Pursuit of Happiness” feat. MGMT and Ratatat:

Thanks for the sick song and even sicker video.

Happy Hump Day.

Much Love,

Portman

Tron: Legacy = Not Drugs: Ecstasy

Posted by Williams On March - 10 - 2010

Literally just lost my mind.  Legit just lost any sanity I had…and there wasn’t that much to begin with.

I’ve been waiting for the official trailer for years now.  Not a demo.  Not a teaser.  A legit trailer.  Featuring, at least partially the Daft Punk original score.

This past weekend…it finally came.  The trailer for Tron: Legacy.

And just in case you’re not in the know, here’s the trailer to the original Tron from 1982.

Huge Bearded Nas Sounding Human

Posted by Winn On February - 26 - 2010

I just got this video in an email. I know Mr. Williams was high fiving these guys a couple days ago, but the only thing I can really get behind about these guys is the one guy’s beard.

Go to 1:30 into the video and check it out. He sounds like Nas too. Sort of.

The Radiohead: Thom Yorke Solo Work

Posted by Williams On February - 26 - 2010

Just happened to catch this and decided it should be put on blast before I started the work day.

This is Thom Yorke, lead singer of everyone’s favorite(as of 2009) alternative band, Radiohead.

He’s playing a benefit party at the Cambridge Corn Exchange for England’s Green Party.

If you’re enjoying a snow day on the Eastern Part of America…give a listen to these new songs he’s playing.  If you happen to be on the west with me…get your ass back to work…after you watch these videos.

Really beautiful songs…I think.

One.

More of That Creative Control: Curren$y & Stalley

Posted by Williams On February - 25 - 2010

Some ill shite I happened to come across today.  Thought I’d spread it a little further.

I’m really enamored by the way these Creative Control cats make their videos.  It’s fresh, it pops…it’s a got a certain feel to it that I can’t help but notice.  It puts me in a trance almost…just almost.

I Used To Think The Strokes Were So Badass (Not True)

Posted by Williams On February - 12 - 2010

A while back, I had a conversation with a close friend who also happens to listen to listen to just as much music as I do.

Somewhere around our 4th beer and the 2nd phone call to another friend to figure out our evening plans (She knows who she is), we got into a discussion about what types of people The Strokes really are.

My friend contested that they look they put on was just a front, and when they’re in the studio, they’re probably the most serious guys in the world.  I stated that, while they are most certainly rock princes, they’re probably just a group of weirdo hipsters that get drunk, get stoned, and write some cool songs.

Well…one of us was right and one of us one wrong.

So, I’ve been kind of busy and kind of lazy.  Which is how I think life is supposed to be at my age.  Hopefully, not for too long, though.

What’s worse…my computer is so DRUGS.  It barely works…it turns on and keeps my room bright in the dark.  Lets me read ESPN.  Besides that it serves no other functions.

However, it does allow me to watch this at work:

This show may be one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen in my life.  The Life & Times of Tim is an HBO comedy cartoon depicting exactly what the titles says.  However…it’s more like an animated Curb Your Enthusiasm.  That same misguided quirky humor in awkward situations.  Season 2 is starting up soon.

I also happened to catch this show recently:

I’d personally like to thank HBO for stealing my idea.  Any of you who have known me over the years know I have ranted(which I love to do) about how I think Entourage would be a lot better if the characters were poor and in New York City.  Oddly, enough, the producers who make Entourage must have heard me…because they made How To Make It In America.

If nothing else, give it a look because it stars Kid Cudi…whom I also have some choice words for.

Stay up.

Obama. Yo. Mama.

Posted by Williams On January - 29 - 2010

On the real.  This is dope.  It’s long and at times it lags…but the ferocity with which this man speaks these days is S-I-C-K.

I wasn’t as impressed with Obama as everyone else in the beginning.  Not even a few years ago.

But he won me over.  And I’m a hard crowd, kids.

Obama’s a monster…and I was wrong…ish.

Conan O’Brien Is Not Drugs (And Always Will Be)

Posted by Williams On January - 23 - 2010

Easiest way to realize that you’re getting older: You’re childhood heroes start to disappear.  At least mine are:

Allen Iverson’s getting pity/idiotic votes into the NBA All-Star Game, but is clearly not an All-Star anymore.

Brett Favre’s still barely clinging on, although, he is doing so in an incredible fashion.  Keep in mind though, he can’t go on forever.

And Conan O’Brien is no longer going to be on television. (At least for another 7 months.)

I acknowledge this fact last night as the end of an era in my life and beginning of another.  My life Post-Conan-On-NBC.

Now here’s the DOPE part: He could of teared up and said his goodbyes, which he sort of did(and so did I)…or he could play “Free Bird” with Beck, Ben Harper, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top and Will Ferrell.  Conan chose the latter.

If this performance isn’t bad ass, I’m not sure what is anymore.  Thanks a lot, Conan.
