So imagine this. I have a folder of files on my computer (for clarity sake, this folder will be The Roots’ new album How I Got Over). How I Got Over, usually, would be a bitch to give someone, intangibly. What I would have to do is compress the folder, upload it to a filesharing website, wait 40 minutes, send it to someone, then they would click on the download button, wait 40 minutes, and then they’d have it on their computer. That process sucks; a lot of waiting with a large amount of errors bound to happen.

Now, take How I Got Over, and instead of going through that same tedious process, full of waiting and fuck ups, you put it into another folder that’s located conveniently on your desktop , wait a minute or two at most, and now you can share The Roots’ new album with anyone else, in the world.

That was really vague, right? You want to know more? Sure thing.

It’s called dropbox. It’s a filesharing system without the need to go through websites or massive upload times, or anything that sucks. You download the application, and place this folder called dropbox right onto your desktop. Inside this folder, are a bunch of other folders. For the most part, all those other things in there are examples of what you can do, and instructions on how to do shit. I’m what those files are for you, but cooler and have a more free use of language. You can pretty much delete everything in the drop box folder, and start fresh (’cause you’ll need all the memory you can salvage). When you’re ready with your blank canvas of a folder, you can start creating new folders. For this, you want to go to your dropbox account via a web browser, because it’s easier.

When you’re there, click on the sharing tab, then click on share a folder. You can share an existing folder (if you’ve already created folders before) or share a new one that you can create right there. With whatever option you choose, after that, you’ll need to type in an email address of another person who also is apart of dropbox, and the invitation will be sent. Once the other person has accepted, you have the ability to, literally, place anything on your computer into that folder you are sharing (it’s located within the dropbox folder). F’n brilliant, right? I know.

You’ve got some limits, though. The free account allows you to use up to 2gb of space. It’s not a whole lot to work with, but there are ways to gain more space. One thing that’s actually a pretty big part of this program is inviting others to join dropbox. With each email address you refer to use dropbox (and they accept) you receive 250mb of space added to your all ready existing space. I have created a dropbox community within the store I work out. I have invited about 7 or 8 coworkers who love it, and I have separate folders for each of them. For the most part, I’ve been sharing music, but I’ve also started sharing pictures, and word documents, and so on, and so on (one key aspect, before you put the item you want to share in the shared folder, you duplicate or copy it, or else you may lose it when your friend takes it from the shared folder…I’ve made that mistake before, just passing along the tidbit).

THE BOONDOCKS. SEASON 3. MAY 2, 2010.

This first trailer was literally posted at 10 P.M. on April 11th and had me flippin’ shit for a good 20 minutes.  Later on in the evening I caught the second one while watching  an old episode on Adult Swim. Very Classy.  The last one comes from the producers of The Boondocks: Carl Jones.  Yeah…that’s the voice of a rich, rich television producer.  Crazy, right?

Stay up.

I’ve just been kind of chillen’ all day.  A small task here or there, but nothing monumental.  Some people love days like that…not me.  I need excitement and busy work and craziness.  Basically, I like to be makin’ moves all day.  Sadly, the only moves made today were usually from my desk to the bathroom.

However, one of my favorite rock bands of the last decade made moves today.  Wilco, led by front man Jeff Tweedy and mastermind Nels Cline announced their music festival: The Solid Sound Festival.  It’s going to be going down in North Adam, Mass. at The Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.

This.  Will.  Be. Epic……if you like Wilco.  And you really should…they may be one of the most electrifying rock bands of our current era. (I often regard them with the likes of Radiohead and The Mars Volta in a category I like to call “Badass Bands of The 2000s“)

Furthermore, I got a message today from an old friend of mine named Drew.  Great kid I’ve known for quite a bit of time now.  Drew always had a great cinematic eye and now he’s utilizing it to do shit with one of my favorite artists, RJD2.  Watch this video Drew did cinematography for RJ’s cut, “Small Plans” off his most recent album, “The Colossus“.

Like/Love/Miss this chica. A great friend of mine name, Revi, linked me up to a segment off ABC News Now’s “Amplified” about She & Him. I found it incredibly interesting, so I thought I’d share it on ND as well. Big ups to the Rozatron. Dig it below.

Furthermore, we’ve probably mentioned it before, but it’s worth blowing up again: Revi plays in this amazing band with a few other folks we went to school with. Needless to say, they are incredibly talented musicians who can satisfy a whole mess of musical tastes…just try them…seriously…challenge them…and get ya’ ass blown away.

But who’s next? Which comic’s name is gonna be rolling off the tongues of all the young dames and dudes in the not-too-distant future? I work at a comedy club so a lot of names are always on my radar. Personally I love this guy Nick Thune. I’d be impressed if you’ve heard of him because he’s not on TV or in movies a lot but his stand up is legit. He’s like a younger, better looking Mitch Hedberg without the whole awkward, druggie, dying young style to him. I saw this performance back in January and I was on the floor.  I’ve seen him perform with and without the guitar and while the act works both ways there’s just something about the strumming that juxtaposes a certain drama with his ridiculousness that makes everything just come together seamlessly for me.
