It’s that time of year again. Time for the annual Nejapa, El Salvador Bolas De Fuega Festival (Fireball Festival). That means that if you were in Nejapa this weekend you could join in on the festivities and hurl fireballs at your fellow man (and you thought fireworks were a badass way to celebrate). Remarkably no serious injuries have ever been reported from the festival despite the fact that PEOPLE THROW FIREBALLS AT EACH OTHER!!!
The locals believe that a volcanic eruption from 1922, which destroyed the town (exactly the type of happy occasion that all humans celebrate), was in fact the Christian Saint Jeronimo fighting the devil by hurling balls of fire at him. The fire fights they carry out now are to reenact that battle between good and evil.
Here’s a little video on how to make your own fireballs at home. Have fun and be safe kids.
